Here’s a reminder for those of you who forgot about the taxes on every litre of gas you purchase. After a trip to your friendly gas station ask for a receipt and they print one out. On the receipt you’ll see the amount of tax you are paying. This brought me back to reality. This tax, if you remember, is called excise tax. The federal tax is $0.1000/litre; provincial is $0.1470/litre; and the HST is $0.13% so that is $0.37.7/litre of the $1.106 /litre you are paying at the pump…
